Why try to be healthy?

Updated: Dec 1, 2019

When was the last time you checked in with yourself?

Are you running on an empty tank, attempts of self-care, on caffeine, sugar, or anger?

We deserve to live in a connected, alive, and integrated body, and WE CAN. No matter where we are at currently.

Our health is something that unfortunately does not receive much publicity or celebration in the “real world.” Culturally, we have become okay with pushing aside our emotions, how we are feeling in our bodies, and the power of self-care. We live in a world that pushes us to keep going, going, going at all costs, have another cup of coffee, get lost in your phone screen, take a pill for your pain, eat standing up or staring at your computer, whatever you do, DON’T be with yourself and your body and your feelings.

That is the energy and message that gets transmitted to us through various images, marketing, food, health care system, and societal “norms.” Our culture breeds disconnection from the healing power of our bodies, the purity of our minds, and the sweetness and uniqueness of our soul. We have collectively crushed the redemption that comes with feeling and being, and abandoned the value of taking care of ourselves. And here we are, hurting, lonely, and wondering how to be alive and be ourselves.

So it is no wonder that your health might feel pushed aside at this time in your life. Maybe you have tried to “become healthy” and feel defeated by the process. Maybe nothing worked for you. You got sicker. You lost money. You lost hope. Maybe you feel like you are one of those people who just can’t afford to be healthy or have no idea what that means.

What if we began to look at our “health” as in invitation and not a destination? What if “health” is a journey into our soul rather than a place we get to once all of our pain “goes away”?

It is possible to live pain free, take care of ourselves, and live in connection to our truth. Turning toward our health and choosing to tend to our bodies is often the first step of a powerful journey that brings more of your essence to life than you ever thought was possible. It is okay to be in pain, be overweight, take medications, eat the “wrong foods”, and feel horrible. But the story does not end there. Because all of these “unhealthy conditions, patterns, and behaviors” are really just invitations into a life that is waiting for you to claim.

We no longer have to live stuck in the inflammations, beliefs, or traumas of the past. We can be born anew, into a body that is full of LIFE. It takes courage and commitment, and a strong love for who you were and who you are becoming. Are you ready for your journey?
